Admix Rotofoil Low Shear Agitator
The Rotofoil is a low shear agitator designed for mixing miscible liquids and dissolving solids that are unlikely to agglomerate. It prevents sedimentation, heat input and floc circulation, and is ideal for viscosities up to 5,000 mPa*s. It has been used for years across various industries including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, chemical/coatings and wastewater treatment.
Axial mixing with energy savings
The hydrodynamic design of the Rotofoil impeller ensures uniform flow combined with low power consumption, turbulence and shear. A 70% energy savings can be expected when compared to traditional impellers that spread the flow in a disrupted flow pattern.
Lower cost of ownership
The strong axial flow of the Rotofoil enables it to be positioned higher in the tank than a conventional impeller. It has a shorter shaft, a smaller shaft diameter and a smaller bearing frame, so it is more cost-effective than other agitators on the market.
High-Efficiency Rotofoil Blade Design The unique characteristics of the Rotofoil impeller blades result in a highly efficient low energy consumption mixer that provides uniform flow and minimal turbulence.
- A unique blade profile results in uniform flow across the impeller diameter
- The twist in the Rotofoil blade is carefully proportioned to avoid turbulence
- The arc or radius directs powerful currents downward

Rotofoil Agitator Specifications
Rotofoil impellers are custom manufactured and range in size from 200-3990mm. The Rotofoil’s geared motors range in size from 0.25 to 22kW, 800rpm – 10rpm.

How The Admix Rotofoil Works
The Rotofoil low shear agitator achieves its high efficiency through its optimized blade design:
Graduated width – the blade is slim at the tip where the speed is greatest, and wider at the base where the speed is lowest. This shape results in uniform flow across the impeller diameter.
The twist – the twist in the ROTOFOIL blade decreases evenly from the inner hub out toward the tip. The twist is carefully proportioned to avoid turbulence anywhere on the blade.
The arc – the arc, or radius, has two functions:
- To provide a low angle of attack at the leading edge while allowing the trailing edge to direct powerful currents downward
- The arc strengthens the blade, making it four times stronger. Because the Rotofoil impeller is manufactured with a lighter material, it weigh only about one-third that of a traditional impeller of the same diameter. In addition, the blade is 50% thinner, further contributing to reduced power consumption.
