Extraction by an organic solvent allows a quantitative separation of a component or group of componenst (e.g. fat) from a mixture of solids. Examples of such applications include the analysis of food, feed, detergents, rubber and plastic formulates, pharmaceutical products, soils, etc, for their content of soluble components, such as fat, tensides, plastifiers and pesticides.

Our solvent extraction equipment includes or three or six places for solid or semi-solid products, according to Randall's technique. The equipment optimises manual operations, reduces extraction time, maximises solvent recovery and ensures completely safe operation. The equipment includes a safety system that signals the lack of cooling water. According to GLP, it is possible to print or save data related to the extraction.

The UDK 152 is a fully automatic distillation and titration system designed for an accurate determination of nitrogen, ammonia, direct alkaline proteic nitrogen (after reduction) phenols, volatile fatty acids, cyanides, sulphur dioxide, alcohol content etc, in cereals, food and feed, water, soil, sludge, sediment and chemicals.

The UDK 152 has available 20 standard predefined programmes and 10 customised programmes allowing it to automatically process activities from distillation to the titration stage including reagent additions, residues aspiration and final result calculations - all in a few minutes - together with a complete report and printing options.

Up to 1,000 values can be stored and a time-saving complete data communication management system is available to external units such as PC balances, LIM etc.

The analysis of raw fiber in food and feed is important and interesting for several reasons, but some of the technical issues about reliability, reproducibility, easiness of use, were, up to now, only partially solved, whichever method is used (Weende, Van Soest).

Considering the diffusion of problems related to nutrition in general terms, VELP introduced the FIWE 3 unit for raw fiber determination, intended for small and medium sample throughput, wich is an appropriate answer to those issues.
